Congratulations Mike and Sara Rubin!

This past weekend has been one of the most enjoyable of the entire summer! Mike Rubin and Ryan’s Sister, Sara were married in Sioux Falls, SD. The weekend began Thursday night, with a little lasagna dinner at the Austad household, orange lantern completion, and candy bag confusion. Friday was jam-packed with fun, Ryan and I got our 7 mile run in at on the beautiful Sioux Falls running trail, we decorated at the church, and then cleaned up and got ready for the Rubstad Open! A great golf tournament filled with crazy clothes and lots of fun! The Rehearsal was a little late (after all, we had to finish our golf games), but after everything was ironed out, we were on to Bracco’s to celebrate. The food was yummy and the conversation was delightful. A fantastic evening to get ready for the BIG DAY!

Sara and Mike’s wedding day was PERFECT! And I’m definitely not kidding on that one. Everything seemed seamless! The girls had a bunch of fun getting ready at the salon while the boys decorated at the reception spot. As we left the salon the beautiful 75 degree weather was a little rare for the middle of July, the breeze was light but fabulous and kept the guys cool in their tuxes. Everything from pictures, to preparation went so fast, by the time we knew it we were up at the aisle witnessing the marriage of Mike and Sara. And then it was off to the reception for dinner and dancing!

Mike and Sara, congratulations to a wonderful couple! We are so happy for you and wish you the best life has to offer. We can’t wait to share many more memories with you guys over the years, I’m sure there are many fun things that are headed our way. Congrats!

Busy Bees

This past week was a BLAST! We decided to get a head start to the weekend with a Wednesday night movie of the new Harry Potter movie. Ryan and I went all out, even sportin’ our Harry Potter forehead lightning bolts…see picture below. Although we might have been outnumbered by the tweens in the audience, we loved the movie! Friday was a low key evening, and then a 6 mile run kicked off our Saturday morning. The only way to start your day! ;) Our friend, Dan Hinds celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday and we enjoyed dinner with him at Upstream in the Old Market. The night concluded with drinking “Das Boot” at a German bar complete with sauerkraut…it was the ultimate German experience! We are still in search of the “perfect house.” Although we’re not looking to buy anytime soon, we are perfecting our peeking and browsing techniques. Every week for the past month or so we’ve enjoyed a Sunday afternoon drive through a few of our favorite neighborhoods finding pieces of homes that we like. I’m sure some time in the future there will be a blog post of our new home…but until then we’ll continue our search.

A Lazy Weekend but a Fun Week

Not gonna lie this past weekend wasn't as crazy as our last few. Friday night, we celebrated our 1/2 year anniversary with dinner at Lazlo's and then a few drinks while we enjoyed our porch and a chat! Saturday, Ryan was the busy one and Amberly got to stay at home! While he had lunch with a friend, a golf outing and a bachelor party to attend... Amberly deep-cleaned the apartment, finished her book, organized the junk drawer, watched some mindless tv, and painted her toenails! :) a good day overall.

As for this week, we've been keeping it low key; a 5 mile and 4 mile run already under our belts for this week, tonight is rest night and a "Harry Potter" date is calling our names! We might head out to Rib Fest Thursday night and then enjoy the weekend with a friend's birthday party and possibly lounging by the pool. Oh, free weekends we do enjoy them!

p.s. the picture above is a blast from the past! Remembering our lazy weekends, sitting on the porch at Ryan's old apartment in Lincoln! :) Fun Times!!!

Independence Day

What a fun Fourth of July weekend! After hitting the road early Friday afternoon, we were ready for some relaxation. Neither of us can remember a Fourth of July where rain and sweatshirts were involved, but this year would change that. The high for the day was just above 60 and it was wet and rainy. On Saturday, we managed a quick boat ride, a few Frisbee tosses and a backyard game of darts at the condo in Okoboji. The clouds cleared just in time for the fireworks display!! Sunday was a different story…with highs in the 80s, we threw our suits on and headed out on the boat! Ryan water skied and Amberly enjoyed some tubing…we both came back to Omaha with nasty sunburns and have been nursing them with aloe! All in all a good 4th!

No huge plans for the next few weeks, a friends bbq, a few date nights and Mike’s Bachelor party, only a few more weeks until the AUSTAD-RUBIN wedding! And we’re looking forward to a roaring party!
